Jan. 17: Age Smart Employer Award Winners to be Announced

On January 17th, the Columbia Aging Center presents the recipients of the  2017 Age Smart Employer Awards. The finalists were announced here on January 2nd.

The Age Smart Employer Awards recognize employers whose policies and practices retain and engage workers of all ages, particularly older workers. Now in the third cycle of the Awards, a select group of finalists have been chosen from a pool of 100 applicants, diverse in size, sector and industry.  During the review of the applications, the selection committee looked for the following: comprehensive benefits; examples of internal advancement; the ability of employees to have input into their workspace; a positive work atmosphere that allows sharing of ideas and feedback; education and licensure opportunities/tuition reimbursement; opportunities for cross-training and mentorship; flexibility in work hours and location, examples of restructuring jobs or tasks to better fit the abilities of employees; phased-retirement and opportunities to come back to work after retirement.
