The John A. Hartford Foundation announces a new grant to fund a State Aging Index

Columbia Aging Center faculty member and Julius B. Richmond Professor of Health Policy and Aging, John W. Rowe, MD, will receive funding from The John A. Hartford Foundation to create a unique "State Aging Index."  The research is conducted by members of the Research Network on an Aging Society who with this funding will extend their recently released "John A. Hartford Foundation Aging Society Index" so that it covers the domestic state level and examines the impact of state programs and policies on the status and well-being of older adults. The project will begin by establishing measures in several relevant domains: social, economic, intergenerational, and health-related. Data analysis will include the calculation of state (or census region where appropriate) performance using the measures and an analysis of how state-based policies and programs are correlated with key state characteristics.

This news was announced on September 14, 2017 by the John A. Hartford Foundation.

Professor Rowe presents this work at the World Bank in November 2017.
