Kerry Wills is the outreach lead for the Age Smart Employer Awards, identifying and interviewing award candidates and assisting with other projects at the center. Kerry was a reporter for many years, writing first in Connecticut, at The Milford Citizen, The New Haven Register, and The Advocate, of Stamford, Conn., winning awards from the New England Associated Press News Executives Association and the Connecticut Society for Professional Journalists. She spent five years as a communications specialist at McKinsey & Company, where she helped consultants develop clear, succinct and compelling recommendations to top business leaders. Afterwards, she authored “The Close-Knit Circle: American Knitters Today,” (Praeger, 2007) a book about knitting’s revival as a popular craft and evolution into a subculture. She also returned to journalism, freelancing for The Morning Call of Allentown, Pa., Associated Press, The New York Post, Vogue Knitting, and The New York Daily News, where she joined the staff in 2011. She is at work on a second book about attempts at parenting through IVF and adoption, tentatively entitled, Mother Material.
