NYT Letter to the Editor About the Value of Older Workers by Ruth Finkelstein

November 3, 2014  Associate Director Ruth Finkelstein wrote a letter to the Editor of the New York Times on October 28th to praise business owners who understand the value of older workers.  Winners of the Age-Smart Employer Awards, she said, "know the value of a worker with...experience and commitment is priceless."  Dr. Finkelstein's letter was in response to Rachel L. Swarns's piece "The Deli Business Is Still in His Bones, Two Decades Into Retirement."

Funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Age Smart Employer Award program is an initiative of the Robert N. Butler Columbia Aging Center and the New York Academy of Medicine. These awards, now in their second year, honor New York City employers who value workers of all ages.
