Deputy Director for Programs, Health and Aging Policy Fellows Program

 

Dr. Henry comes to the Columbia Aging Center from the National Academy of Medicine, where she was the Study Director for the Global Roadmap for Healthy Longevity report. In the past 20 years she has addressed, through policy, program implementation, and/or research: quality measure development and value-based health care for vulnerable populations; social determinants of health; hospice and palliative care systems, payment models, and quality; long-term care systems, quality, and financing; care planning for chronic conditions and advance care planning; financing geriatric training across disciplines; person-centered care; ethics, including autonomy with dementia, decision-making capacity, and end-of-life care; and elder law.

Her positions have included Research Scientist at NCQA, Health and Aging Policy Fellow in the office of Senator Mark Warner, Executive Director of the Utah Commission on Aging, Director of the Utah Aging and Disability Resource Center, Partner in the elder law firm, Henry & Ciccarello, and Director of the Utah Community/State Partnership to Improve End-of-Life Care. She has served as a member of the University of Pennsylvania Palliative and Advanced Illness Research (PAIR) Center External Advisory Board, the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization's Ethics Council, the University of Utah's Division of Medical Ethics (associate member), and is currently serving as a member of the CMS Hospice Quality Reporting Program Technical Expert Panel.
