Tuesday, November 27, 2018

The CAC Aging Round Table for CUMC postdoctoral scientists working on aging will take place on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.  For more information about eligibility for the Aging Round Table, contact Caitlin Hawke, Senior Science and Strategy Officer of the Columbia Aging Center: cmh2197@cumc.columbia.edu.

Our speaker on November 27 will be Evgenia Verovskaya, PhD, Postdoctoral Research Scientist, Emmanuelle Passegué Laboratory. The abstract for her talk, "Inflammaging in the bone marrow microenvironment deteriorates blood function and regeneration," is below.

"Inflammaging in the bone marrow microenvironment deteriorates blood function and regeneration"

ABSTRACT:
Dr. Verovskaya presents her work on the aging of hematopoietic stem cells. Her project focuses on studying the role of aged microenvironment in decreased functionality and regeneration of blood system during aging. Her data have demonstrated that aging leads to development of inflammatory milieu that degrades bone cavity and compromises regeneration of blood after stress. Blocking inflammatory signaling improves blood recovery.
